About the Role:

As a DevOps Engineer at Qualcomm, you will play a key role in administering Linux systems and troubleshooting Kubernetes clusters in a hybrid on-premises and cloud environment. You will work with Rancher, RKE, and other cloud Kubernetes services (GKE, EKS, AKS). Daily tasks include system monitoring, responding to alerts, conducting capacity planning, and engaging in hands-on troubleshooting. You will also have opportunities to grow through project work and mentorship.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and troubleshoot Linux systems, particularly Ubuntu.
  • Manage and support Kubernetes clusters across bare-metal (RKE) and cloud platforms (GKE, EKS, AKS).
  • Perform system monitoring, alert responses, and troubleshooting.
  • Work on projects like implementing self-healing system automation and integrating new compute platforms.
  • Set up Datadog alerts and dashboards.
  • Utilize Python and bash scripting for automation.

Essential Skills Required:

  • 3+ years of experience administering Linux systems.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Docker and Linux container internals.
  • Experience with Python and bash scripting.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes control plane and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with using Git and GitHub for version control.
  • Comfort with Agile project management using JIRA.

Beneficial Additional Experience:

  • Recent CKA (Certified Kubernetes Administrator) certification (CKAD and CKS are a plus).
  • Experience with bare-metal Kubernetes management using Rancher and RKE.
  • Experience with cloud Kubernetes platforms (GKE, EKS, AKS).
  • Experience with Datadog log/metrics collection and dashboarding.
  • Experience with Portworx and MetalLB deployment and management.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • OR 1+ year of IT-related work experience with a Bachelor’s degree in a non-technical field (e.g., Business, Humanities, Marketing).
  • OR 3+ years of IT-related work experience with a High School diploma or equivalent.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently transports and installs equipment up to 20 lbs.
